New Year’s Eve Snacks: Salted Caramel Popcorn

  |     |   Apartments, Sherman Oaks Events

If you are planning to stay up late on New Year’s Eve for a midnight countdown, there is one thing you’ll need–lots of snacks. You can probably buy the majority of your goodies, but since NYE is a lot of waiting around, why not make a snack with your family and keep busy? Here is a quick and easy recipe for salted caramel popcorn.

INGREDIENTS

6 cups of plain popped popcorn
1 stick butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of corn syrup
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Pinch of sea salt

Start your oven with a preheat of 250 degrees. Next set aside a baking sheet lined with foil.
Get your already popped popcorn and place it into a large mixing bowl. Now start creating your mix by melting the butter into a saucepan at medium heat. Throw in the brown sugar, corn syrup and let it boil (but make sure it doesn’t burn),

Next let simmer for 5 minutes and whisk in the salt, baking soda and vanilla. Now pour the sauce over your popcorn and even toss it until every piece has a nice camel coat. Spread the popcorn onto your baking sheet and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt. Let the popcorn bake for an hour (mix every 20 minutes). Once completed let the popcorn cool down and then enjoy!
